Beach location: Heading south from
Corfu town, you follow the Lefkimmi Road which brings you after 20 km to the beach. This is located alongside a very fast and busy road, effectively dissecting the sea from Benitses resort.
Disabled access: Yes. There are good ramps leading to the hardpacked beach.
Car parking: Yes. However, this is a busy resort and the car parks are often full.
Food outlets/restaurants: Just about everything possible is available in the resort (if you manage to survive crossing the main road!)
Sand/pebbles/shingle: Hard-packed sand with shingle and pebbles in places.
Sunbeds/umbrellas: Yes.
Showers: Yes-The municipality also provide staffed toilets on the promenade.
Safe for children: Yes. The sea is relatively placid and only goes deep quite steadily. The main problem is with the busy main road separating it from the resort area.
Watersports: Yes. Limited.
Main users: Tourists.
Well cared for: Yes. Benitses beach is cleaned daily and weed is removed.
Mooring for boats: Limited. Moor off in the natural harbour.
Next to quayside/harbour: No.
Storm drains/outlets into sea: None observed.
Natural shady areas: Tree-lined promenade gardens provide an attractive respite from the burning sun.
Any other facilities: Full resort facilities.
Distance to main resorts: 0-2 km depending on the location of your accommodation.
Public transport: Frequent buses and plenty of taxis.
Blue Flag: Yes. It has to be said that the Benitses of the 21 st Century is 100% better than the
Benitses of the 20th Century. This is a resort and a beach that's made a real effort to recover its flagging image and appears to be succeeding.
